Youth for Change Education Centre

Project:
YFC Educational Centre is a rural, non-profit making childhood development centre aimed at developing children through pedagogical ways of learning. The project therefore intends to prepare the children on pre- school and normal basic educational system. The vision of this project is to bridge the gap between the privileged and the less privileged (orphans, physically challenged and needy) through better educational foundation and beyond.
The project begun on 12th January, 2009 at Asamang, one of the villages in Atwima Nwabiagya District of Ashanti - Ghana. It currently operates at Asuofua on Akempim Stool Land also in Atwima Nwabiagya District of Ashanti – Kumasi.
The centre currently has 150 children comprising Nursery, Kindergarten 1 & 2 and Primary 1. The number keeps on increasing day by day.
In addition, the school has a staff strength of 6 (Teachers, caretakers and a cook). The centre transports children across 3 neighbouring villages. Aslo YFC has had community projects about HIV/AIDS awareness and beads making projects for the youth in the area.
Financially, a token fee is charged for their lunch but needy and orphans come for free.

Volunteers can bring with:

- first aid
- toys, footballs and other playing equipment
- educational aids
